What a buzz for the kids from Niagara Park Primary School being on live radio at Coast FM on 11th March for Kidz Bizz. Their first time on radio and they were natural storytellers! Amusing anecdotes of their school life, teachers, lunch time and after school activities. They are all off to High School in 2010 and intend to make the most of their remaining time at primary school! |

The first Kidz Bizz show this year was presented by Gosford primary school today (Wednesday 4th February). The school captains and vice-captains advised listeners of happenings at the school including voting for the House Captains and the swimming carnival this Friday 6th February. Kidz Bizz recommences live in the studio at Coast FM on Wednesday 4th February with Gosford Public School behind the microphones. Other schools communities involved in the programme this year are Wyong Creek, Lisarow, Niagara Park, Woodport, Chertsey, East Gosford, Valley View, Toukley and Berowra with a couple of schools not yet confirmed their dates. On Wednesday 14th January, Royce, a former Kidz Bizzer from Valley View Primary School, now attending Lisarow High School, came into the studio and told listeners about his recent visit to Japan with Japan East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths. He had a memorable stay with a Japanese family and visited various areas of Japan including Hiroshima. The latter he found very moving. An interesting experience for a young student. |

AMRAP is a community radio initiative that works with musicians and community broadcasters to create increased radio airplay opportunities for contemporary Australian music. The project is funded by the Commonwealth Government through the Community Broadcasting Foundation and is managed by the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia. Every month a parcel of CDs arrives and from these I select some from the ‘easy listening’ music genre. Each week one is showcased as “Coast FM’s independent Australian artist of the week’ and tracks from that CD are played by some of our 6am to 6 pm presenters. These CDs and the others ( featuring music from hip-hop to jazz and classical to blues) are passed on to speciality music show presenters for airplay. Just one of the initiatives at Coast FM for the promotion and airplay of local musicians. |
